Chef Ed’s Recipe – Hearty Breakfast Biscuits with Eggs, Bacon, Sausage & Cheddar
A bold, satisfying Southern-style breakfast sandwich stacked with savory favorites
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Servings: 4 biscuit sandwiches
Ingredients:
For the Biscuits:
- 4 large buttery biscuits (homemade or store-bought)
- 2 tablespoons butter (for toasting)
- 4 eggs
- 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 4 strips thick-cut bacon
- 4 breakfast sausage patties
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 1 tablespoon butter or oil (for cooking eggs)
Instructions:
1. Cook the Bacon and Sausage:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon strips until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. In the same pan, cook sausage patties until golden and fully cooked through (about 3–4 minutes per side). Keep warm.
2. Prepare the Eggs:
Crack eggs into the skillet with a bit of butter or oil. Cook to your liking—fried over medium is classic, but scrambled works too. Lightly season with salt and pepper.
3. Toast the Biscuits:
Slice biscuits in half and toast the cut sides on a skillet or griddle with a bit of butter until golden and crisp.
4. Assemble the Sandwiches:
On the bottom half of each toasted biscuit, layer:
- One sausage patty
- One cooked egg
- One slice of cheddar cheese
- One strip of bacon (halved or folded to fit)
Top with the remaining biscuit half. Press lightly to meld all the layers together.
Chef Ed’s Tip:
Want a meltier bite? Place the assembled sandwiches in a warm oven (300°F) for 3–5 minutes to let the cheese ooze into every layer.
Optional Add-Ons:
A dash of hot sauce or honey for sweet-heat contrast
- Sliced avocado or tomato for a fresh twist
- Replace cheddar with pepper jack or Swiss for variety
