Instructions

Sloppy Joe:

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet. Add ground beef and brown thoroughly, breaking up as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté 5–6 minutes until soft.
  3. Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire, mustard, and brown sugar. Simmer for 10–15 minutes until thick and meaty.
  4. Season with salt and pepper. Keep warm until serving.

Fries:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Toss fries with olive oil, paprika, salt, and pepper. Spread on a baking sheet.
  3. Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp.

Cole Slaw:

  1. In a large bowl, mix cabbage and carrot.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk mayo, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  3. Combine dressing with cabbage mix. Chill until serving.

To Serve:

Scoop a mountain of sloppy joe onto each bun. Serve hot with fries on the side and a cool pile of slaw to balance the heat.

Chef Ed Tip:
Toast those buns with butter on a griddle for max flavor and no soggy bottoms.
